Nikoloz Kavelashvili has been Professor of the School of Business, Technology and Education at Ilia State University (ISU) from 2016. Between 2014-2021 he was a Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Central Bank of Georgia and Board Member of the Service for Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Supervision, an agency under the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. From 2012 to 2016 he was the Chief Financial Officer and Associate Professor at ISU. From 2006 to 2011 he was Director of the Georgian Regional Development Fund, investment project of Millennium Challenge Georgia, a fund supported by the United State Government. From 2002 to 2006 he was Vice President and Country Manager of Bedminster Capital Management in Georgia, US$ 200 million investment fund sponsored by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, an agency of the United States Government. Before 2002 he served as an Executive Director of the Open Society Georgia Foundation and a Head of Conoco’s Batumi office. Earlier in his career, he worked at International Monetary Fund (IMF) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) offices in Georgia and completed an internship at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Nikoloz Kavelashvili received PhD in business administration from the ISU in 2013, MA in economics and finance from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1998 and MS in physics from the Tbilisi State University in 1991.
