Ilia State University, with the support of USAID Economic Security Program – Training for Life (T4L) Industry-Led Workforce Development Starts from October 10th DevOps, DataOps and CloudOps technology training series Advanced IT Trainings.

The project envisages the development of 120 beginner developer skills in the field of information technology, the three most in-demand modern trends today are: DevOps, DataOps and CloudOps.

In the first stream, 20 participants will be selected for each course. A total of 60 participants will receive free training, which includes both theoretical and practical components, and the course will end with a final project.

Participants will also undergo career development trainings, where they will learn about the opportunities for employers of developers in Georgia and abroad today, meet with representatives of leading IT companies and participate in employment forums.

Ilia State University together with partner IT companies will offer internship programs to the training participants.

20 developers will take part in each course. The duration of the course is 5 months, 3 hours per week. Courses are free for first stream participants.

The project manager is Vice Rector of Ilia State University, Professor Nana Dikhaminjia, in the direction of developing innovations and popularizing science.

The training directions will be guided by:

  •       Erekle Maghradze, Associate Professor at Ilia State University, in the field of computer science;
  •       Shota Tsiskaridze, Associate Professor at Ilia State University, in the field of computer science;

For whom is the course intended ?

The course is designed for novice developers who have some programming experience and want to learn the latest technologies in process and data management automation.

The DevOps course will cover topics:

  •       The importance of DevOps in modern information technologies, process automation;
  •       Python Basics, Introduction to Flask and FastAPI Packages;
  •       Use of Git-based systems;
  •       Containerization of the application using Docker and Podman;
  •       DevOps for Databases (Liquibase);
  •       Container Management Tools (Docker Swarm, K8S);
  •       K8S operations;
  •       Software monitoring, continuous integration and testing.

 The DataOps course will cover topics:

  •       Introduction to Python, Numpy, Pandas, Data Visualization (Matplotlib, Seaborn);
  •       Introduction to Data Management Principles, Data Storage Technology, Distributed Data Storage Systems, Big Data Systems;
  •       HDFS Review, HDFS Access and CLI, Debugging and File Types;
  •       Introduction to Spark using PySpark, Spark RDD;
  •       NoSQL Review, HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB (MongoDB ATLAS).

The CloudOps course will cover topics:

  •       Overview of Cloud Platforms, Description of AWS Basic Services, Description of Azure Basic Services, Description of Basic Services on GCP;
  •       Python Basics, Introduction to Flask and FastAPI Packages;
  •       Cloud management and operations concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP);
  •       Containerization of the application using Docker and Podman;
  •       Introduction to Terraform, Terraform Providers for AWS, GCP, Azure and useful modules for infrastructure implementation;
  •       Ansible Basics and Ansible Configuration Management Automation.

How do I become a project participant?

In order to participate in the project you need to fill out a simple application form no later than September 28, 2021. An information meeting about the project will be held on September 23, at 8:00 p.m.

We will contact the selected candidates no later than October 5, 2021. Candidates will be selected based on personal motivation and experience. 

Trainings will be held in Georgian, but basic knowledge of English is required.
