About Dr. Wonkyu Shin

Dr. Wonkyu Shin is a Researcher at the Institute of Economics and Business as he teaches at Ilia State University (ISU).

Dr. Shin was a Specialist at the Division of Development Research, Korea Development Institute (KDI) in 2016-2019, where he started to provide his research-based consulting and advisory services on trade & development issues for various ministries, INGOs, private sectors.

With his areas of expertise, he served as Associate Editor of International Economic Journal (IEJ) and a steering member for Korea International Economic Association (KIEA) and Korea Association of Trade and Industrial Studies (KATIS), and National Committee for K-SDGs (Korea’s Sustainable Development Goals) between 2017-2019.

The main fields of his research interest are trade & development under the world trading system (WTO/FTA) and a means of sustainable development: trade, innovation, ODA, and foreign investment (FDI). He received his Ph.D. degrees in International Studies (International Commerce) from the Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University in 2015.
